A Notebook for the Note-Taking Doodler Who Loves Jesus

I am a note-taker.

It helps me stay focused and better remember what I’m learning or hearing. But, as a creative, my notes look a bit different than most—because I also love to doodle.

My notes tend to go outside the lines. Truly. Lines sometimes feel too restrictive and my notes flow best on a blank sheet of paper. But, the type A side of my brain prefers I write in a straight line—which, of course, is a challenge without lined paper. Oh the dilemma!

Today, most of my note-taking happens during work or at church. For work, a basic lined notebook will do. But for church, I want more. And so, I was inspired to design a notebook that allowed me to take notes the way my brain flows, with no lines to limit my doodles. Instead, I customized the pages with faint dots in a grid pattern to offer subtle guidelines to keep my writing straight and steady.

Oh, and I didn’t just design this notebook for myself. I designed it for anyone who can relate. For anyone whose notes tend to look artsy or more like a flow chart than a page of text. I designed it for the note-taking doodler who loves Jesus.

My 52-week Church Notes notebook is now available on Amazon.

At first, I debated whether to go with a traditional paperback or spiral bound style. Unfortunately, Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) doesn’t offer a spiral bound book option—and that left me searching for an alternative printer option that would still allow me to sell on Amazon. Yet, after finding a few other sources to print, I wasn’t sold on all the extra steps.

I was also reminded of the fact that I don’t always love spiral bound notebooks because the spiral gets in the way when I’m writing to the left of the spine. So, no spiral, I decided—which made it possible to publish via Amazon KDP.

Once published, I had to try it out for myself before sharing it with the world. So, I ordered my own notebook and have been using it at church for several weeks.

The verdict: It’s exactly what I set out to create and I plan to use it every week going forward.

But, what’s great about this notebook is that it can also be used for a Bible study or personal devotional time in the Word. It works for all things Bible-related.
